Oval FILM has an international reputation for quality
OVALfilm was founded in 2002 by two German filmmakers: Lilian Franck and Robert Cibis. Based in Berlin, our international team specializes in co-productions and quality filmmaking tailored to please viewers across borders. OVAL has a reputation for quality and innovation in creative storytelling and top-notch production values. We have experience in science, cultural and social topics and have been supported by the EU MEDIA Slate Funding Program since 2006. In co-operation with a wide range of networks and broadcasters worldwide, we have produced in-depth and creative documentaries for high profile non-fiction TV-slots. In addition to ARTE and ZDF, stations that have used our work include: ARD, RBB, WDR, SWR, NDR, 3sat and RTL in Germany; ORF in Austria, France 3 and Mezzo in France; ERT in Greece; Tango TV in Luxembourg; YLE in Finland; Axess in Sweden, and FSTV in the USA. We also have experience in feature films for theatrical distribution. Our recent success PIANOMANIA was released in over 20 countries, and won a slew of awards including: The Locarno Critic's Week Award Prize, the San Francisco IFF Golden Gate Award for best feature length documentary, the prize for “Best Sound” at acclaimed German Film Awards in 2011, and many more. Our staff aims for quality. Our films examine universal themes through the power of unique personal stories. Through these vehicles, OVALfilm aims to bring both understanding and entertainment to international audiences.
